GREENWOOD LAKE, NY — Deerpark Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec officially kicked off his campaign for the New York State Assembly on December 8 at the Greenwood Lake American Legion Hall. Approximately 100 friends, family members, and colleagues attended the official announcement, where Brabenec said he will seek the Republican, Conservative, and Independence party lines to become the next assemblyman in the 98th Assembly District.

Brabenec stressed his platform points, which are property tax reform, promoting small business and economic development efforts, supporting agriculture and growth in the black-dirt region.

Current Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt will be vacating the seat to become Orange County Clerk on January 1, 2014. It is unknown at this time if Gov. Cuomo will call a special election to fill the remaining portion of her term. There will be a regular election for the seat in November 2014.
