Thanksgiving seating for 100

TOWN OF COCHECTON, NY — Stacey Millman and Scott Goodman are relatively new to farming, having established Butchie’s Organic Farm off Route 97 in Cochecton only two years ago. But they are successful enough that this year they have decided to share the bounty.

The couple is a hosting A Thanksgiving to Remember as a fundraising event and a food drive for the Sullivan County Federation for the homeless. Free meals will be offered to people in need, but the invitation is also open to people in the community who want to enjoy a sense of community on Thanksgiving Day. Millman said they and their partners will offer a “delicious, gourmet, lovingly created farm-to-table dinner.”

Millman and Goodman have attracted numerous partners from the area. Natural Contents Kitchen is co-hosting the event. Among the food partners in the effort are Willow Wisp Farm, Lucky Dog Farm and Maynard Farm. Rolling V Transportation is providing transportation, which will come free of charge.

This is the first time the couple will be involved in this type of effort, and they are not sure how many people will turn out for the event, but she said they are prepared to feed 100 people.

The meal will be served at the Lake Huntington Firehouse.

Though the couple has been farming for only two years, Millman said they are committed to the sustainable food movement and preserving an environment that will allow people to eat healthy organic food that’s free of pesticides. She said farming is a challenge because they both have full-time jobs. Still they managed to sell their products at the farm markets in Jeffersonville and Kauneonga Lake this summer.

For more information on the event go to Facebook and search for A Thanksgiving to Remember, or email info@NaturalContents.com or call 888/551-8625.
