A Honesdale comedian has pleaded guilty in a charge related to accidentally shooting his daughter in the face. Matthew Holmes, 39, pleaded guilty on September 12 to a count of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
The shooting happened on May 15, when Holmes and his 15-year-old daughter were visiting friends. Holmes reportedly removed a nine millimeter semi-automatic handgun from its holster and removed a bullet from the chamber, which he believed to be the only bullet in the weapon.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Holmes set the gun down on a table and it went off, with the bullet striking the daughter in the chin, and exiting through her cheek.
