The Lumberland Town Board on July 24 honored town resident and long-time civic activist Ann Danuff, who died on July 11, at the age of 83.

Seated regularly at the front table facing the board at their meetings in three decades, Danuff was a consistent and persistent advocate for the environment, Lumberland seniors and taxpayers, as well as a respected advisor to Sullivan County government.

The board unanimously approved the following proclamation by Supervisor Nadia Rajsz:

Whereas: the Town of Lumberland would like to memorialize the passing of resident Ann Danuff, and

Whereas: Ann Danuff had been a valued resident and active member of the Town of Lumberland community for many years, and

Whereas: Ann Danuff was a member and Co-Chair person of the Lumberland Environmental Management Council, a member and Officer of the Board of Assessment Review, a member of the Senior Club, Charter member of the Lumberland Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Lumberland Lions Club and a member of the Lumberland Democratic Committee, and

Whereas: Ann Danuff was also a member of the Sullivan County Senior Legislative Action Committee and the Town of Lumberland representative for the Sullivan County Office of the Aging and involved in the Friends of the Sunshine Library, and

Whereas: Ann Danuff was instrumental in the annual Earth Day Celebration and the annual Flea Markets held by both the Senior Club and the Fire Department Auxiliary.

Now, therefore be it resolved: that I, Nadia Rajsz, Supervisor of the Town of Lumberland in Sullivan County in the State of New York, on behalf of its’ citizens, do hereby proclaim that the Town of Lumberland remembers Ann Danuff as a valuable member of various organizations of the Town of Lumberland and an asset to the community.
