NPS looking for river volunteers

The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking volunteers to help spruce up the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreation River.

According to a press release, volunteers are invited to join park rangers on July 13, “as they paddle down the river plucking litter from the shoreline as well as from the river bottom. This is great fun for the whole family as well as for groups of friends.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen at 9 a.m., and NPS will provide vehicle shuttle, canoes, lifejackets and paddles. The event will take place rain or shine, and paddlers should come prepared for getting wet. The park service recommends bringing extra clothes and lunch.

This clean-up is limited to 20 volunteers. For more information, or to sign up, call Park Ranger Brandon Diefenbach at 570/685-4871 by July 11.
