Pete Seeger at Air Soil Water benefit concert

MILFORD, PA — More than 300 people turned out for the sold-out Pete Seeger concert on June 8 during the Milford Music Fest. People came from as far away as Ottawa, Canada, North Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland to see the 94-year-old perform along with RJ Storm and Old School, and the opening band Spirit Family Reunion.

Oscar-nominated “Gasland” director Josh Fox introduced Seeger and RJ Storm with storytelling and a banjo serenade of “The Star Spangled Banner,” which, he told the crowd, started as a pub song.

Seeger started with his “Turn, Turn, Turn” and played many of his well-known favorites. The finale, “This Land is Your Land,” united all the performers back on stage and included members of the Delaware Valley High School Chorus.

The concert was a benefit for Air Soil Water, which was started as a way for the community to rally around proactive measures to help the environment and protect citizen’s rights to have clean air, soil and water. Founder Jolie DeFeis said, “I am thrilled at the support we have and the willingness to help ourselves make the changes we want to see here.”
