New York State Police recovered a body from the Upper Delaware River on May 4 at about 3 p.m. Police say the body was discovered by a group of canoeists who alerted authorities.

The cause of death has not been declared and police were awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests. Police said dental records were being used to help determine the identity.

As of May 7, state police had not released any additional information about the identity of the victim; however, a truck with Pennsylvania license plates that is believed to have belonged to the victim was found at the Ten Mile River access.

State police were assisted in the recovery by the Narrowsburg Fire Dept. and National Park Service rangers.
