Sullivan West High School has been recognized nationally and in New York State as a silver medal award winning school, according to the 2013 US News and World Report High School rankings. Out of the 658 school districts and 1,149 high schools in New York State, Sullivan West ranked #144.

This honor is achieved by comparing all of the high schools in the nation using three criteria.

The first step was to sort out those schools that have performed better statistically in the state than average for the students in that state.

If you pass the first step, the second step was to evaluate if the disadvantaged students in the district were performing better than average for similar students in the state.

Meeting both of those measures, the third component was college-readiness performance. In Sullivan West, the AP data was used for this evaluation.

The national data compiled evaluated 21,000 public high schools. Sullivan West’s national ranking was #1,666.

This is an honor for the students, faculty, staff, administrators, and Board of Education of the Sullivan West Central School District. This award is a reflection of the tremendous support the community provides for excellence in education. Sullivan West is very proud of the entire school community.
