Sullivan, Pike, Wayne vote for Trump

In the surprise election that ended up with reality television star and real estate developer Republican Donald Trump winning the White House, Sullivan County voters voted heavily for Trump. The unofficial count in the county was 10,983 votes for Democrat Hillary Clinton and 14,626 for Trump.

In the statewide race, Clinton bested trump by a margin of 60% to 35% of the vote.

In the 19th congressional district, with unofficial votes counted, Republican lobbyist John Faso bested Democratic law professor Zephyr Teachout by about 25,000 votes.

In what turned out to be a very good night for Republicans in the state and the country, Republican Senator John Bonacic convincingly defeated political newcomer Pramilla Malick by a vote of about 63,000 to 39,000.

In Pennsylvania, Trump beat Clinton by about 1% and some 60,000 votes. In Wayne County Trump garnered about 15,000 votes and Clinton received about 6,000.

In Pike County Trump received about 16,000 votes while Clinton received about 9,000.

In the statewide race for the U.S. senate seat, Republican incumbent Pat Toomey narrowly bested Democratic challenger Katie McGinty by about 2% of the vote.

Republican Congressman Tom Marino easily defeated Democratic challenger Michael Molesevich with Marino claiming about 70% of the vote.
