Brian Merritt, 34, of Honesdale was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman he had been living with.
According to the Honesdale Police Department, on November 1, officers were called to the scene on Grove Street where they investigated a complaint and discovered that Merritt had been living with the victim for some time and was asked to leave, which sparked a disagreement. During what police called a “verbal engagement,” Merritt brandished a gun, pointing it at the victim on two occasions and then eventually firing a round off into the ground in close proximity to the victim’s feet.
Merritt was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and a violation for discharging a firearm in the borough.
