Sullivan travel restrictions lifted

Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement: "Sullivan County remains under a State of Emergency, with several County Roads closed and others minimally passable. The travel restictions that were issued Monday night are hereby rescinded. However, a Travel Advisory is issued to the public that many roads continue to be closed or are minimally passable. Town and Village Roads throughout the County may also be closed. The public must obey all baricades and closed roads. Do not drive around baricaes or travel on a road that is posted as closed. Dangerous and hazardous conditions remain on many roads, with wires and trees down. The traveling publis should use caution when traveling throughout the County.

"The following County Roads remain closed: CR 31 in Glen Spey; CR 95 in Obernburg; CR 94 in Mileses/Hankins; CR 73 in Harris; CR 173 in Monticello/Bridgeville; CR 109 in the Concord area; CR 161 in the Thompsonville/Kiamesha Lake area; CR 141 in the White Lake and Swan Lake area; CR 51 in Hurleyville, behind SCCC; CR 145, Dahlia Road in White Sulpher Springs; CR 111 in Cochecton Center and Narrowsburg; and CR 44 in Sackett Lake. The following County Roads are minimally passable with hazrards: CR 48; CR 117; CR 183; and CR 164.

"Sullivan County Offices will be open for normal business hours on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

"Nearly 30,000 locations throughout Sullivan County remain without power. The three utiltilities companies that cover Sullivan County are addressing the power outages. The first priority of the utilities companies will be to make conditions safe, followed by a damage assessment. The substations transmission lines need to be put back and functional, prior to restoring distribution lines to residential and commercial customers. Dry ice will be distributed today at Liberty Police Department, White Lake Fire Department, Mamakating Town Hall, and Accord Fire Department, and distribution will begain on Wednwesday at these locations at 12:00 noon.

"School Districts will make indepent decisions as to whether schools will open on Wednesday, October 31, 2012."
