Honesdale may lose liquor store

Posted

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PA LCB) has plans to relocate the retail state liquor store which has been on Main Street since the state stores were first established, to the Route 6 Plaza in Texas Township.

The Greater Honesdale Partnership (GHP) and a number of its member businesses are concerned that the move will drain business from the downtown area, for which the liquor store provides an anchor. The GHP is asking the PA LCB to reconsider its decision, and has offered to work with it to find an alternative space if the current one is no longer working for it. Members are being encouraged to send letters regarding their concerns to Atty. Joseph E. Brion, the chairman of the PA LCB, at Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, Northwest Office Building, Administrative-Executive Office, Harrisburg, PA 17124-001.
