REFLECTION LAKES, PA — The Pennsylvania State Police have reported a drowning in Reflection Lakes in Manchester Township. Hubert Iturres Jr., 22, of E. Elmhurst, NY, was at the lake with friends at 3 a.m.
The group had been drinking and were wading in the water. About 15 minutes later, they wanted to leave, but Iturres was still in the water, and said he was going to swim across the lake. His friends tried to dissuade him, but he proceeded. One friend went out to the dock to call for Iturres to come back, but Iturres refused. The friend then swam out to try to get him but failed. At that point, 911 was called.
The Sullivan County dive team, Forest Volunteer dive team and Ledgedale Fire Company dive team responded to the scene. Equinunk Fire Department, Damascus Ambulance and Wayne Ambulance also responded, as did the Red Cross.
The body was recovered at 1:30 p.m. by the dive teams. The investigation is continuing.
