At the special meeting of the Eldred Central School District Board of Education held on May 24, the board announced the appointment of Virginia Keegan to the position of principal at the George Ross Mackenzie Elementary School.

Keegan worked as a K through 12 building principal for Gilboa-Conesville Central School District in Schoharie County and as K through 12 building principal/superintendent for Owen D. Young Central School District, which is 14 miles north of Cooperstown. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business education, Master of Science degree in advanced classroom teaching from State University of New York at Albany, and her Certificate of Advanced Studies certificate in school administration from State University of New York at Cortland.

Keegan will begin her duties at Eldred effective July 1.
