Following a search for a home that included the old school field on Kirk Road and the firemen’s field, the Tusten Heritage Community Garden has successfully found a spot behind the Tusten-Cochecton branch building of the library, with the unanimous approval of the library board. Crops will also be grown at SkyDog Farm on Route 23, co-owned by Kevin Vertrees and Andrea Reynosa, and at Fort Delaware. Reynosa, who is also a town council member, is spearheading the project independent of her town duties.

Local youth will be employed to raise heirloom vegetables, which will be sold at the “Big Eddy Farmstand” in Narrowsburg later in the summer. Guest farmers and speakers will come to the sites to teach and inform participants. In addition, Restaurant Supported Agriculture (RSA) shares are being offered to local restaurants and businesses to help raise funds to pay the students.
