Volunteer for Liberty zoning committees

The Town of Liberty is looking for volunteers for a variety of zoning-related committees. In January of 2008, the Town and Village of Liberty adopted a joint comprehensive plan (www.townoflib erty.org), a roadmap for community development.

One important goal in the plan is preserving Liberty’s open spaces and farmland while encouraging business through appropriate land use. Zoning changes drafted in 2011 were a result of that effort. The town board wants to review the changes that were made and complete the zoning change process.

Councilman Dean Farrand has put forward a plan for that process that requires citizen participation on zoning planning committees. These committees will review the current zoning and propose changes to the town council.

To get more information about the committees, or to serve on one of them, visit the Town of Liberty web page (www.townofliberty.org), email c.barbuti@townofliberty.org or mail Charlie Barbuti, Town of Liberty Supervisor, 120 North Main St., Liberty, NY 12754.
