DV school plans on public view; hearing scheduled

Posted

Plans for the Delaware Valley (DV) School District’s planned $23 million elementary school are now available online at dvsd.schoolwires. They may also be viewed at the district administration building.

There will be a public hearing on the project at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 at the district offices. In order to receive public funding, the district is required to make certain information available to the public, including details on financing and construction plans, which is contained in the 32-page report.

A decision was made to construct a new building despite the fact that enrollment in the district is expected to decline over the coming decade. That’s because deterioration of the current building, which is 60 years old, has reached a point that the costs of renovation and the difficulty of renovating an occupied building make it more practical simply to build new. The new building will house about 600 students.

The DV school district plans separately to invest $7 million on improving its district’s sports facilities, expanding the high school to do so, after the new building is completed.
