Tusten to IDA, clean up your bridge

Posted

The Tusten Town Board voted unanimously on March 12 to send a letter to the Sullivan County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) asking them to clean up and repair the bridge that crosses lower Main Street just below the feed mill.

Councilman Tony Ritter penned a letter to the agency that described Narrowsburg as a community which takes pride in its appearance. He wrote, “We would like to bring it to the IDA’s attention that the bridge is in need of painting and maintenance.” He included photos of the bridge and a link to a video on YouTube.

He wrote, “We hope that your office will make a concerted effort before the summer season begins to make the much needed improvements to the bridge.”

A motion to send the letter passed unanimously.

The IDA owns the bridge and leases it back to the Central New York Railroad Corporation in a deal that was worked out in 2005, which provided tax incentives to the company through 2009.
