SUNY Sullivan will be working with HospitalityGreen, a sustainable operations consultant, over the coming year. Sustainability is already a focus of SUNY Sullivan, with a state-of-the-art green facility and an extensive sustainable education curriculum.
“We decided to hire HospitalityGreen to supplement the college’s ongoing efforts in campus sustainability,” said Helena le Roux Ohm, SUNY Sullivan’s Director of Sustainability Projects & Initiatives. “HospitalityGreen’s experience and tools related to waste reduction, waste diversion and policy development will be a tremendous asset for the college. SUNY Sullivan hopes to establish itself as a regional and national leader in campus sustainability, and HospitalityGreen will be an important partner for us in this process.”
HospitalityGreen will work on purchasing sustainable products and waste management/recycling for everything from dining services and culinary, computer/electronics purchasing, cleaning products and office and tissue paper purchasing. The company will also develop recommendations for improvements for waste and recycling for the cafeteria, dorms and all academic and administrative departments.
