A hunter lost near Puckyhuddle Rd. in Bethel on Saturday, December 10 was found with the help of modern technology.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a lost hunter in the Town of Bethel on at approximately 7 p.m.

Sheriff’s deputies joined state troopers, state forest rangers and White Lake firefighters in the search for Dominick Frasca, 43, of Staten Island. Frasca was scheduled to meet a hunting companion in the vicinity of 300 Puckyhuddle Rd. at 3:30 p.m. The friend waited until 7 p.m., and when Frasca failed to emerge from the woods he dialed 911.

Sheriff Mike Schiff says that a state police helicopter with thermal imaging was called in, and located the hunter in the woods approximately one-half mile from Puckyhuddle Rd. on the western end of Lake Superior State Park. Sheriff’s deputies and a state trooper reached Frasca just before 11 p.m. Frasca was reported as being in good spirits, and was able to walk out to the main road where he was examined by the Town of Bethel Ambulance Corps and released to the hunting companion.
