As the first order of business at the monthly meeting of the Town of Cochecton, the board unanimously voted to approve the 2012 budget. The budget includes a 1.65% increase over last year’s budget, which is under the New York State two percent property tax cap.

The board had previously discussed cutting funding to the youth commission, but ultimately the amount was left the same as last year. The funding for the bicentennial celebration was reduced, but the board did not make any other significant changes.

Also at the meeting on November 16, the board voted to send a request for bids for the removal of an unsafe building located on Route 116.

A resident complained about people dumping things such as tires and computer monitors on the town streets. The resident said he is going to bring the things to the transfer station himself, and if there is a bill he will bring it to the board.
