Hundreds Will Gather Outside of Trenton War Memorial to Rally After Cancellation of Critical DRBC Vote on Fracking

Trenton, N.J. – Next week, residents from across the Delaware River Basin will gather outside of the Trenton War Memorial, once the site of a critical, scheduled meeting of the

Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) to vote on a proposal that would have allowed fracking in the river basin. To the acclaim of residents and anti-fracking advocates alike, the vote was officially canceled on Friday.

Yesterday, Delaware Governor Markell announced that he would vote against the proposed regulations that would have paved the way for the controversial gas drilling method in the river basin – the drinking water source for 15.6 million area residents.

Food & Water Watch, Delaware Riverkeeper Network and its coalition partners are organizing hundreds of people to attend a rally and march to the NJ State House on Monday, November 21. Buses will bring activists from all over the region to participate in the event.
