A neighbor said she thought she heard a tree fall to the ground, which has been a frequent occurrence in the area recently. But when she looked outside, a building across the lake was being swallowed up by flames.
Elvira Macri watched from across Lake Jeffersonville, as firefighters promptly arrived on the scene on Route 52 to battle the blaze; but they were not able to stop it from being burned to the ground. There were several pops heard coming from the building, but it’s not clear if there were flammable materials inside.
The Jeffersonville Fire Department could not be immediately reached for comment.
