Eagle Scout Project to benefit Highland

Posted

Boy Scout and Eldred Central School freshman Peter Vorstadt presented his plans for the Eagle Scout project he will oversee in the Town of Highland during its meeting on March 15. Vorstadt proposes to beautify and landscape the new Highland Lake Fire House at 144 Highland Lake Road.

The project targets an area that currently consists of weeds, rocks and uneven ground. Plans include installation of a flagpole, an informational sign, benches, a flower bed and ornamental flowering trees. Vorstadt will personally oversee a small planting area called “Pete’s Fun Garden.” In addition to supporting the fire department, the project will also benefit the residents of Highland Lake, according to Vorstadt.

“Highland Lake is a small town with no center. You can drive right through my town and never know its name,” he wrote. “This project will put a face on Highland Lake. And I want it to be beautiful.” The plan was approved by the town board and Vorstadt was complimented on his presentation by supervisor Andrew Boyar.
