Florian 'Mike' Tomkowski

Florian “Mike” Tomkowski, long time resident of Glen Spey, NY, passed away on July 8, 2017 with his family by his side in Phoenix, AZ. He was 86 years old. He was born on April 22, 1931 in Buffalo, NY.

Mr. Tomkowski retired after 30 years as caretaker of a local camp in Glen Spey, NY, where he raised his children.

Mr. Tomkowski honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years.

His passion was carpentry. A family statement reads: “He was a devoted father and grandfather with a great sense of humor and will be missed greatly.”

Mr. Tomkowski is survived by his step children: daughters, Mary Stegmann of Glen Spey, Beverly Stidham and husband, Cliff; sons, Mario Eugenio, Joseph Eugenio and wife, Rosemary, who all reside in Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son, James Eugenio of Staten Island, NY.

Mr. Tomkowski will be honored at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. There will be a private ceremony held in Glen Spey this fall with respect of his wishes to disperse his ashes. Close friends and family will be notified of the date.
