Narrowsburg News 8/31
It’s back again—Labor Day that is—and then back to school it will be. However, before you give up on summer, why not squeeze in a great community yard sale? Start on the Flats on Saturday, September 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date Sunday, September 3. Shop the vendors on the ball field, and then pick up a map and drive to additional town yard sales. While meeting the neighbors, you are sure to have fun and no doubt come home with a treasure. The best part is you will be supporting the Tusten Youth Commission and all the fine work they do for the children in our town.
It’s hard to believe but, the Big Eddy Film Festival is back for the sixth year. Each year it seems to get better, and this year is no exception. There are 22 films offered, which includes full length features, two films shot right here in Sullivan County, a “sexy shorts” program and even a Disney film, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Let’s not forget the annual showing of the Icehouse Arts films made by the children of our community. With 22 films showing, you will probably have difficulty picking just one, so why not purchase a pass for six for $40 (opening night film is not included), or better yet an All-Access Pass for $100. Passes are available online at bigeddyfilmfest.com or by calling 845/252-7576. Best yet, all films will be shown right here in our own Tusten Theater.
Lastly, an update. It is clear that work has begun on the Narrowsburg Bridge and some of you may be wondering about the Little Lake Erie bridge. We are learning there are many steps that must be satisfied in order to receive our $98,000 grant money, so progress is slower than anticipated, but progress is moving. A meeting has been arranged with Shumaker Engineers for a design of the new bridge. Stay tuned.
