Hello, I hope you are all doing well. As for me, I still have an ear infection and sinus problem. Plus I have a cold, but I am doing OK; you have to keep on trucking.

Tax season is moving fast. I have to let you all know there was a problem with tax bills getting out. I mailed all the bills on January 2 at the Narrowsburg Post Office. Some people are just getting their bills this week; I have no clue why. You can go to taxlookup.net to get your amount. When you make out the check, it has to say “Eileen Hennessy, Tax Collector” or “Town of Cochecton Tax Collector.” You have until January 31 to pay without a 1% fee added.

What I like most about collecting taxes are the people who come in to have a chat. I can always count on Paul Genco to stop by. The best visit I had was with Bradley Dubois Jr. and his mom Christine. Bradley was telling me about his bus trip to see the NY Giants game with the Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) back in November. Bradley had broken his foot in three places and was in a wheelchair when he went to the game. When they were having a tailgate party in the parking lot, a vendor came over and gave Bradley a Giants hat as he was being pushed in the stadium by his dad. Some person put a Giants blanket on Bradley and just keep on walking. Bradley said the best was when they were waiting for the elevator, and there were three men with carts of merchandise waiting for the VIP Elevator. One of them gave Bradley a signed Sterling Sheppard mini-helmet. It’s really great how kids in Cochecton can have such an experience going on trips with CYC. Follow CYC on their Facebook page for winter events.

CYC is taking a NY Knicks bus trip to Madison Square Garden to see the  Knicks vs. the Toronto Raptors on March 11. The first 25 children to sign up will get to “high-five” the players as they run onto the court. Signups will be held on February 1 at the town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. Give Sue a call at 845/866 0853 if you are interested or if you have any questions

Keep smiling, have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
