Baby, it’s cold outside—more like freezing. I do not remember it being this cold for this long of a period. You have to dress in layers to stay warm. Thank you to the Cochecton road crew for keeping our roads safe.

Congratulations to Gertrude and Leonard Martin, who just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Martin was a science teacher at the Narrowsburg school back in the ‘50s, and Gertrude is the aunt of Mary Jane Nober.

The Cochecton Youth Commission  (CYC) is hosting a New York Knicks bus trip. In-town and out-of-town family and friends are welcome; please share this information. Join the CYC to watch the New York Knicks vs. the Toronto Raptors on March 11. The first 25 children to sign up will get to “high-five” the players as they run onto the court. Madison Square Garden (full-day bus trip) signups will be held on February 1 at the town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. If you’d like to secure your seats ahead of time or have any questions, call or text Sue at 845/866-0853. Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost for adults and out-of-town children is $183; as always, the trip is free to Cochecton Youth.

CYC is looking for another board member; come to the next meeting: first Tuesday of the month in town hall at 7 if you are interested. Lisa Bercze of Trip Guy has graciously offered a fund- raiser to the Cochecton Youth Commission; she will donate $25 to the CYC when anyone booking their vacation through her mentions the Cochecton Youth Commission. Spread the word to mention the CYC for anyone booking through Lisa Bercze of Trip Guy.

The Lake Huntington Fire Company would like to thank everyone who came out and supported them on New Year’s Day with their chicken barbeque.

It saddens me to tell you that Maria Meyer passed away. I always liked talking to Maria and Joe; may they both rest in peace now that they are together again. Maria and Mildred, sisters, married brothers Joseph and Eugene; I think that is so cool.

Keep smiling, have a great week and email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreport er.com in “Community Living.”
