Recently, the governor and the New York State Senate decided to eliminate money from the New York State Department of Health budget that was set aside to determine why people get sick who live close to fracked gas wells. The state has deliberately stopped investigation into an obvious problem, mainly so they can say “There is no record of adverse health effects from gas drilling.” You can’t bend the realty into something it isn’t no matter how much money the gas companies throw at it.
The New York Senate and the governor should follow the lead of the assembly and put these funds back into the Department of Health budget.
