A Wayne County Christmas Story, 2011

Once in a while in our lifetime, if we’re lucky, we have the privilege to work with a group of people who are givers—the kind who give unselfishly, lending support with a heartwarming smile, silently and anonymously. It is they who know and understand the meaning of true happiness. These are the people who make the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau our county’s own “Miracle.”

Christmas 2011 was a reality for 289 families and 659 children.

To the Adopt-A-Family Program, individuals, families and groups that gave of their time and energy—what a beautiful gift to give your neighbors.

To all of you who annually provide monetary donations—thank you for your generosity.

Wayne County Volunteer Program volunteers and shoppers in Wal-Mart and K-Mart scoured the shelves and racks, volunteers sorted goods at the Park Street Complex, and local businesses and banks loaded the shopping tables with toys and games. Senior sewing groups from all over Wayne County participated. Youth groups and families carefully selected good clothing and gift donations to share with others on distribution day—gifts of caring and compassion.

Great local media provided support: Bold Gold Media radio stations, The Wayne Independent, and News Eagle newspapers; businesses, benefactors and hundreds of people worked together in this heartfelt community program.

The Honesdale Jaycees welcome donations at any time. Checks can be made payable to the WCCCB, c/o Honesdale Area Jaycees, 200 Delaware Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. If you need further information, please contact Carleen at 570/253-4262 or cfaatz@co.wayne.pa.us.
