Relinquishing their authority

It’s hard not to be impressed with the community organization prowess of the Lumberland Concerned Citizens. However, when an unelected organization like this begins to usurp and unduly influence the actions and responsibilities of the persons elected by the community, it’s hard not to become concerned.

It appears that the elected and appointed representatives of Lumberland have relinquished their authority to a non-elected, non-accountable highly partisan community group that has one stated goal: ban natural gas drilling at all costs.

I would encourage the various Lumberland town boards to take back their authority during the next 60 days, while the new zoning rewrite is fully aired for the first time.
