I sit here today and write my column with a broken heart; my friend and buddy Dolores Manaseri passed away on Thursday, March 23, two years and one day after my husband Tommy. [See obituary for Dolores on page 8].
Dolores was 78 years young, married to the love of her life, Joe, for 58 years. Dolores and Joe came up to Sullivan County back in the late ‘80s and moved to Lake Huntington in 1996. Dolores was the mother of three children: Joseph, Rosemary and her son Christopher, who passed away too young in life, and five grandchildren. Besides her family, Dolores loved and valued all her many friends. You would always find Dolores out and about at a community event selling 50/50 tickets or helping out one way or the other.

Some of the organizations Dolores belonged to were the Women’s Club, Republican Club, Cochecton Ambulance Corps, member of Our Lady of the Lake Church and The Rosary Society. She also belonged to The Grover Hermann Hospital Auxiliary, at whose annual fair she was Madam Zenobia and told you all about your zodiac sign, to help the hospital raise money. Her favorite was The Red Hatters, where Dolores was the Queen Mum; she even got my mother to join the group.

To know Dolores was to love her. Dolores, I miss you already, and you will always have a special place in my heart. I love you, and may you rest in peace.
