This week is going to get crazy for me being the Town of Cochecton tax collector. Remember, you have to have your tax payment postmarked by January 31 not to have to pay a penalty. My hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4 to 7 p.m.; if you need to make an appointment, give me a call at the number below and I will call you back and set one up. When you call me please do not hang up; leave me a message with your name and phone number. I aim to please.

Collecting taxes, I get to meet so many people from the town. Krista from Dog Mountain Lodge came in last week to visit me and she was telling me about her dogs, and how she loves them all. Dog Mountain Lodge is starting its 10th year, and all its employees are local.

Alice from River Brook Farm was telling me about her goats and how they work from morning to night taking care of the animals. Alice also told me it was her husband, Neil Fitzgerald’s, birthday. Happy birthday, Neil! On Saturday I went to Eric Hector’s funeral, and I met his sister, Eileen. I said to her, “I am Eileen Hennessy.” Her response to that was, “I love reading your column.” It’s very sad when someone dies, but even worse when they are young and it’s unexpected. Please keep the Hector family in your thoughts and prayers.

Supervisor Gary Mass would like everyone to drive safe in this weather. Sometimes I forget my seatbelt—not anymore. With all the accidents on the ice, buckle up.

If you have any news you want out there, let me know. Have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
