Rider walks away from wreck

NARROWSBURG, NY — A deer that ran across Route 97 may have caused a southbound motorcyclist to lose control of his bike on June 24, according to New York State Police at the scene of the accident.

The victim slid into the fall and was taken away with only minor injuries, including road burn, the police said. His motorcycle, however, slid under the guardrail and hit a supporting post, separating it from the rail.

The Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Service transported the victim to Wayne Memorial Hospital. The Narrowsburg Fire Department and Lava Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident.
