John Knoll of Lackawaxen, PA, a retired owner of a telecommunications company and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at home. He was 80.

The son of the late Mike and Kate Giska Knoll, he was born March 16, 1931 in Brookfield, IL.

John was the widower of Joan Bruns Knoll, who passed away on November 26, 2009. They were married for 52 years.

John was a Korean conflict veteran, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and the Lackawaxen Fire Department.

A family statement reads, in part: “John was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting the outdoors and his garden. He was a special person that cared about everyone. He will truly be missed.”

John is survived by his children Jean Corday and husband Richard of Collegeville, PA, Mike Knoll and wife Lisa of Lackawaxen, Susan Edwards and husband Dane of Hagerstown, MD and Daniel Knoll and wife Denise of Allentown, NJ; grandchildren Christy Livezy and husband Tom, Jason Corday, Ann Marie Knoll. Tyier Edwards. Frank Knoll, Casey Edwards, Kyle Edwards and Michael Knoll; and many nieces and nephews.

John is predeceased by six brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 19 at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.

Burial followed in Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen, PA.
