Kenneth E. Russell died in the home of his daughter on January 26, 2012 after a courageous battle against cancer. He was 71.

Ken grew up in Union City, NJ and moved to Kearny, NJ 48 years ago.

Ken earned a degree in economics from Rutgers University. He served in The United States Marine Corps.

He started his career as a runner on the floor of and eventually owned a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. Ken worked for several investment firms on Wall Street and became a partner at Loeb Rhodes and Vice President in charge of Arbitrage for I.F.B. Corp. After retiring he wrote bids for Johnston Communications.

Kenny, an Eagle Scout, was involved in scouting most of his life. He was a co-founder and the current board president of The Pioneer Boys of America. He ran canoe and camping trips for Operation Friendship and recently completed The Delaware River Sojourn. He was a former board member of the YMCA, and was active with the General Philip Kearny Monument Committee and with St. Francis Church in Narrowsburg, NY.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Russell (nee Kelly); children and their spouses Noreen and Mark Wiggins, Paul and Karen Russell and Jason and Meriah Russell; brothers Richard and the late Raymond; and grandchildren Conor, Madison, Chloe, Emily, Shannon, Colleen, Miranda and Cordelia.

A mass was held on January 30 in Queen of Peace Church. Kenny will then be laid to rest alongside his two baby boys, Kevin and Jonathan, in the St. Francis Church Yard Cemetery in Narrowsburg.
