Ida Meyer, formerly of Galilee, PA, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, PA. She was 95.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Meyer, in 1986.

Born on July 31, 1916 in Baldwin, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Carmen Winant.

Ida worked with her husband in the family business, Meyer’s Deli and other delicatessens in New York State. Later she helped raise beef cattle at the family farm in Galilee. She was active with the United Methodist Church; a member of the Abrahamsville United Methodist Church; and a member of the Unity Grange No. 1710 in Galilee for over 50 years. She will be remembered for her love of crocheting, knitting and her ability to cook.

She is survived by sons Bill Meyer and wife Billie of Brandon, MS and Bob Meyer and wife Dixie of Oakdale, CT; sister Louise Winant of Galilee; grandchildren Sheryl Roach and husband Jeffrey, Eric Meyer and wife Danielle, Ray Meyer and wife Ashley and Beau Meyer; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by two brothers: George and Raymond Winant and a grandson, Bobby Meyer.

A memorial service was held on January 26 in the Abrahmsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jean Blackie officiating.

Spring interment with graveside services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee.
