Clarence R. Huebsch Sr., a lifetime Liberty, NY resident, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, FL. He was 92.
The son of the late Harry and Pearl Huebsch, he was born in Liberty on August 13, 1919. He was one of eight children.
Clarence was a self-employed Master Carpenter and builder. Having left school to serve in the Army in WW II, he didn’t finish high school. At the age of 88, he received his GED. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church; a member and past commander of the Clarence Hoyt Post #9217 in Liberty; a Past County VFW Commander; and a member of Russell D. Sprague American Legion Post #109, Liberty.
Clarence is survived by his sons Clarence Huebsch Jr. and wife Martha of Cochecton, NY and Gene Huebsch and wife Carol of Liberty; longtime companion Myrtle Salonich of Liberty; sisters Henrietta Phelps of Liberty, Rose Hewlett of Liberty and Mabel Recchia of New Jersey; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Harriet; sisters Virginia and Eldora McArthur; and brothers Lester and Carl Huebsch.
Private cremation took place in Florida.
