At approximately 1:00 AM on Thursday September 17, 2015, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Patrol responded to a burglar alarm at Sonny's Mobil Mart on the corner of East Broadway and Rose Valley Road in the Town of Thompson. At the location, deputies found that a window had been smashed out. The owner of the store responded to the scene and determined that cash and cigarettes had been stolen.

The deputies reviewed the in-store video and were able to identify a suspect and the getaway vehicle. The vehicle, a black Nissan Rogue, was found later that morning parked at 15 Fulton Street in the Village of Monticello.

Deputies arrested Christopher Gonzales, 27 and Shelly Somerville, 54 who both reside at that address. The suspects, who are boyfriend and girlfriend, admitted to breaking into the Mobil Mart gas station that morning and on June 7, 2015 as well.

Deputies say the duo also broke into the Monguap Valley Mobil Mart this past Sunday, September 13, 2015. The pair allegedly burglarized the Sunoco gas station on Broadway, the liquor store in the Mountain Mall and the liquor store on Route 42 South, all of which are in the Village of Monticello.

Those cases are being handled by the Monticello Police Department. The suspects told police that they smoke so much crack cocaine that they cannot remember all the places they have broken into. Deputies recovered an undetermined amount of cash, rolled coins and cigarettes from the suspects' residence.

Sheriff Mike Schiff commended his deputies for putting an end to what he called "a two person crime wave". The pair was charged with Felony Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Grand Larceny. They were arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court before Town Justice Marty Miller. Christopher Gonzales was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail and Shelly Somerville's bail was set at $25,000. Sheriff's Detectives are continuing the investigation.
