Port Jervis duo arreted for heroin

The Port Jervis City Police Department and Orange County District Attorney’s Office announces that on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, members of the Port Jervis City Police Department, in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, executed a Port Jervis City Court “no knock” search warrant at 140 Ball Street, Port Jervis. According to police, an undisclosed amount of heroin and narcotics paraphernalia was seized.

Subsequent to the execution of the search warrant, City Detectives arrested Kelly Dean, age 47, and Jonathan Morgan, age 20, both of 140 Ball Street, and charged them with multiple criminal charges related from their involvement in the sale of heroin. Detectives allege that Morgan and Dean sold the narcotic drug heroin on multiple occasions.

Detectives charged Morgan with four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (possession with intent to sell), all class B felonies,; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor; and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation.

Detectives charged Dean with one count each of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (possession with intent to sell), class B felonies.

Morgan and Dean were arraigned this morning, January 15, 2015, in Port Jervis City Court before the Honorable Matthew D. Witherow, City Court Judge., and remanded to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Bail for was set at $50,000 for Morgan, and $25,000 for Dean.

The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

A criminal charge is an accusation. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
