Monticello Police arrested Trevor Sasso, age 31, of Monticello on Wednesday 11/19/14. Sasso was charged with Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree and Misdemeanors for Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Sasso was also wanted by New York State Parole as a Parole Absconder.
At 6:00 PM Wednesday Sasso was observed by officers as a being a passenger in a vehicle being operated on Lake Street in the Village of Monticello. Monticello Police wanted Sasso on an arrest warrant for Obstructing Governmental Administration from an incident that occurred on 8/30/14 during a vehicle stop on Broadway. Sasso had fled from officers on 8/30/14 when stopped because New York State Parole wanted him as being a Parole Absconder. Sasso was able to elude officers at that time and Monticello Police then obtained a warrant.
When the vehicle that Sasso was riding in was stopped on Wednesday night he again fled from the vehicle and led Monticello Police and assisting New York State Police Investigators on a foot pursuit behind several houses on Lake Street. Officers were able to chase down Sasso and arrest him. During the foot pursuit Monticello Police Detective Michael Davis sustained a sprained right knee and several lacerations while affecting the arrest of Sasso. Sasso was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action. Sasso is currently on parole in NYS for a prior conviction of Felony Criminal Trespass in the 1st Degree.
