Man saves neighbor from fire in Otisville

Posted

The State Police in Middletown along with the Town of Mount Hope Police Department and the Orange County Fire Inspectors are currently investigating a structure fire that occurred shortly after 8:00 PM last night. The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of an apartment at a multi-family residence, located at 94 Bull Road in the Town of Mount Hope. The call came into 911 when a man was alerted by the sound of his neighbor's smoke detector.

He ran to his neighbor's apartment and knocked on the door. When the occupant of the apartment answered the door she collapsed on the floor. The man noticed that the apartment was fully engulfed in flames so he helped his neighbor to safety and ensured that 911 had been contacted. Surrounding area fire departments were summoned and quickly were able to contain and extinguish the fire. The victim was originally taken to Orange Regional Medical Center but later transferred to LeHigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania where she is listed in critical condition. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
