Monticello couple arrested on multiple charges

On October 24, 2013, the New York State Police announced the arrest of Deshawn Booker and Melissa Figueroa of 75 High St., Apt 6, Monticello, NY.

On October 24, 2013, the New York State Police in conjunction with the Village of Monticello Police Department and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office executed a Search Warrant at 75 High St., Apt 6, Monticello, NY.

The warrant was the culmination of a three week investigation into the illegal possession of handguns by members of the Bloods Street Gang. Seized from the apartment was a loaded 9mm handgun, a .22 caliber handgun, a 9mm Rifle, three ballistic vests, crack cocaine, and US Currency. The 9mm Ruger was determined to have been stolen from Fulton County, Atlanta, GA.

Deshawn Booker, age 37, was arrested and charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, and the misdemeanor charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphanelia in the 2nd Degree, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Melissa Figueroa, age 34, was arrested and charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, and two misdemeanor counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The defendants were arraigned by Sullivan County Court Justice Michael McGuire. Booker was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail set. Figueroa was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
