District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Franklin Brinson, aka “Ace-Loc”, 21, of Monticello, NY was sentenced in Sullivan County Court to 13 years in state prison and 5 years of post release supervision for shooting another man in the face on November 12, 2012, on Forestburgh Road in Monticello.

Brinson pled guilty to the most serious charge against him, Assault in the 1st Degree, a class B violent felony, and admitted to shooting another man with a handgun, the bullets striking him in the face and the leg. The victim was treated at Westchester Medical Center and has since recovered from his injuries.

The shooting was investigated by Monticello Police and the gun used in the shooting was ultimately recovered. Farrell said that Brinson was a self admitted member of the Crips street gang and the shooting was the product of gang violence.

“Gang violence will not be tolerated in our community and we will bring all of our resources to bear to make sure that those individuals that resort to violence are held accountable and responsible. My office and the Monticello Police Department are committed to rooting out the violence in the Village of Monticello and sending those individuals who engage in this behavior to prison for lengthy periods of time,” Farrell said.
