Two Liberty men arrested after drug raid

On September 6th 2013, the Village of Liberty Police Department concluded a month long investigation into the sale of heroin from a residence on Webster Avenue with the arrest of two men.

Liberty police executed a no-knock search warrant at 115 Webster Avenue apartment 2 in the early morning hours on Friday. During a search of the house police found over 270 individual bags of heroin packaged for sale with a street value of around $5,400, illegally possessed prescription suboxone and methadone, marihuana, scales, an illegally possessed billy club and over $650 in cash.

Police also found five police scanners in the apartment that were used by the suspects to monitor police activity. Arrested during the raid was James Garris, 51 and Collin Lee, 36 both of Liberty.

Garris was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, felonies, criminally using drug paraphernalia a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marihuana, a violation.

Lee was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, felonies, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Both men were arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. Liberty police were assisted in the investigation by the New York State Police and the Village of Monticello Police K-9 unit.
