On 06-17-2013 at 8:27 a.m. Honesdale Borough Police officers investigated a one car crash that occurred on Grandveiw Avenue near the intersection of Willow Avenue and Tryon Street.
Officers determined that a 26 year old female of Honesdale was traveling westbound on Grandview in her 2000 Chevy Blazer. While approaching the Willow Ave. and Tryon St. intersection she became distracted and proceeded off the westbound berm striking a concrete curb, causing disabling damage to her vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result. The vehicle had to be removed by NE Towing.
During the investigation officers determined that a passenger in the vehicle, Zachariah Mercer, 26 year old, of Honesdale, was in violation of a PFA Order issued out of the Wayne County Court. Mercer was not to have any contact with the female driver.
Mercer was arrested without incident. He was afforded a preliminary arraignment before MDJ Edwards. After failing to post bail Mercer was remanded to the WCCF. A hearing is scheduled for June 27th, 2013 at Wayne County Court.
