On June 7, 2013 at approximately 9:00am, New York State Police at Liberty responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 55 and Ferndale-Loomis Rd in the Town of Liberty.

Investigation determined that a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by GHIA YOUNG, age 41 of Woodbourne, NY had collided with a 2008 Nissan Versa operated by KIM GESSNER, age 46 of Rock Hill.

The accident occurred as Gessner was traveling west on Ferndale-Loomis Rd and crossing the intersection at ST-55. Gessner’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s side as Young proceeded north on ST-55. Gessner was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris where she succumbed to her injuries. Young was treated for minor injuries. The accident is being investigated by members of the Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
