Monticello man wanted by four police agencies arrested

Monticello police arrested John Whitlock (31) of Monticello on Tuesday 4/30/13. Monticello police charged Whitlock with misdemeanors for petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

Whitlock was also wanted by the Sullivan County Sheriffs Office on an arrest warrant for burglary in the 3rd degree and as a fugitive from justice from three separate police agencies in the state of Pennsylvania.

Monticello police had arrested Whitlock after receiving a complaint that Whitlock had shoplifted from the Rite Aid store on Broadway in Monticello. When arrested Whitlock was found to be in possession of heroin and hypodermics.

A computer check of Whitlock, following his arrest, showed that the Sullivan County Sheriffs Office wanted him on a burglary arrest warrant. The Lackawanna County Sheriffs Office, the City of Dickson's Police Department and the Taylor Borough Police Department, all in Pennsylvania, wanted him on warrants for retail theft, contempt of court and receiving stolen property.

Whitlock was arraigned before acting Village of Monticello Justice Martin Miller and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action.
