Honesdale arrest for terroristic threats and public drunkenness

Posted

On March 30, 2013, at approx. 610 a.m., Honesdale Borough Police were dispatched to an apartment on Elm Place for the report of a male wielding a knife and attempting to break into the upstairs apartment.

Upon arrival on scene Honesdale Borough Officers were met by a Jeremy Bettinson of Tacoma, Washington. Bettinson came running at the officers with a serrated steak knife. He repeatedly told officers to shoot him while refusing to obey commands that were given to him.

Bettinson eventually threw the knife down after several commands by Borough Officers. He was taken into custody. While searching Bettinson a 12” steak knife was found in his front pocket.

During this investigation it was discovered that Betinson was drinking alcohol with a friend in an apartment. He later left the apartment taking two knives with him. He was outside the apartment acting bizarre. He attempted to gain entry back into the apartment several times but the occupant refused to let him in. At some point Bettinson called 911 and threaten to kill the dispatcher thinking he was the responding officers.

Bettinson was charged with Terroristic Threats and Public Drunkenness. He failed to post $10,000 bail and was taken to the Wayne County Correctional Facility. A Central Court appearance is forthcoming.
