Wallkill, NY - April 5, 2013
The New York State Police reports the arrest of two individuals from Metuchen, NJ for possession of psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana an unloaded Ruger 22 caliber pistol and a quantity of prescription medication.
At approximately 12:30 am on April 5, 2013, troopers working out of the SP Middletown barracks stopped a 2014 Dodge for a vehicle and traffic violation on State Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill.
Further investigation by the troopers led to the discovery of approximately 13 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, an unregistered Ruger 22 caliber pistol, 13 pills of Clonazepam, six pills of Adderal and less than 1 gram of marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, ZACHARY SMITH, age 24, and LAUREN GARA, age 24 were placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
The two suspects were arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $5,000.00 cash bail.
